With a passion for closing deals and mastering negotiations, Bill’s journey from B2B telecom sales to real estate began in October 2017. Now in his seventh year, he’s primed to take his expertise to new heights with his own agency.
Bill’s love for real estate lies in the opportunity to meet diverse individuals from all walks of life. “It gives you perspective on how people live their lives,” he says. However, the job isn’t without its challenges. The emotional rollercoaster and relentless grind are part and parcel of being a successful agent.
The idea of starting his own business was born soon after the birth of his children. “I was basically running my own company already but with someone else’s name, and that didn’t sit right with me,” Bill explains. After two years of contemplation, he took the leap, driven by the desire to give more to his family and clients.
Before branching out, Bill’s frustrations included the lack of skilled back-end staff and the constant turnover. But what really hurt was the money he wasn’t taking home to his family. “When it came down to commission day, having that cheque get cut in half and given somewhere else sucks,” he admits.
And he’s already making up for the lost income – Alpha Agency is experiencing early success with seven listings already secured.

Bill’s advice to other agents considering building their own business is straightforward: “Just do it. Bet on yourself. Worst case scenario, go back and join one of the 50 other old school agencies in your area.” But knowing Bill, that’s an extremely unlikely outcome.
